activated sludge wastewater treatment plant

Ever wonder where our dirty water goes after we use it? It ends up in where they call a wastewater treatment plant! This is where we clean the soiled water that arrives from our homes and businesses. Activated sludge: One of the most important ways that we clean this water is through a process called activated sludge. Activated sludge, is a combination of small bugs and the ends left over from waste that work together to help treat water for re-use.

The role of aerobic bacteria in wastewater treatment plants

Surprisingly enough, those small bugs living inside the activated sludge are just a type of bacteria! Spins these bacteria are called aerobic>()) Also, they have a long name because in order for them to live and do their job/infection, the microbe need air (oxygen) so that's why theirs are called Aerobic. It is a good thing that these bacteria are present in the wastewater treatment plant because they eat all the bad stuff that can make our water dirty. They need oxygen and food from the dirty water to take harmful substances apart in small parts that are no longer dangerous. This is the step needed to make it safe for use again.
