Treatment Challenges:
To fully achieve the operator’s objectives, several project challenges had to be overcome. For a large-scale river water treatment project, the treatment capacity, fluctuations in raw water quality, and subsequent treatment requirements were all key factors that needed to be carefully considered in the system design. This project required a treatment capacity of 80,000 m³/day, which meant that the system needed to handle a large volume of raw water every day. The front-end solid-liquid separation and sedimentation stages needed to achieve high treatment efficiency while maintaining stable equipment performance.
The turbidity, color, iron, and other suspended and colloidal impurities in the raw water also placed higher demands on the clarification process. In particular, when the raw water quality fluctuates, conventional sedimentation methods may require a larger footprint to meet the required treatment capacity. After multiple rounds of comparison and communication, the design proposed by the Yimei engineering team was selected.

Working Principle of a Lamella Clarifier
From a technical perspective, a Lamella Clarifier enhances the sedimentation process by increasing the effective settling area without requiring a larger tank. The key lies in its inclined plates, which create a greater surface area for particles to settle. When water enters the lamella clarifier, it flows upward between the plates. Particles settle onto the plates and slide down into the sludge collection area. Meanwhile, the clarified water flows out from the top, ready for subsequent treatment.
