Sewage Treatment System to South Africa: Why the Top Choice for Local Businesses? (100m³/h Lamella Clarifier + Filter + RO)

2025-11-07

Recently, a complete set of sewage treatment equipment capable of processing 100 m³/h of river water was successfully loaded, inspected at Qingdao Port, and officially shipped to South Africa. This marks our third batch of customized sewage treatment solutions delivered to South Africa this year. Featuring a core "sedimentation + filtration + reverse osmosis" configuration and tailored to address the specific characteristics of river pollution in the South African market, this solution has become the preferred choice for local governments and environmental companies in river treatment projects.

1.Design water Quality

Based on the experience data of  wastewater and the given data of customers, the influent water quality and the effluent water standard is designed as follows:

To address the specific challenges of South African river water—high turbidity, heavy metal content, and complex pollutants—this system employs a three-stage treatment process: "Sedimentation + Precision Filtration + Reverse Osmosis." With a treatment capacity of 100 m³/h, it meets the daily requirements of small to medium-sized river rehabilitation projects. The treated water fully complies with South Africa's Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water.

Sedimentation:
As the "first line of defense" in river water pretreatment, this stage utilizes the principle of shallow sedimentation to efficiently remove suspended solids (SS). It achieves a turbidity removal rate of over 98% during dry seasons and maintains stable performance even when handling highly turbid water from rainy season runoff. Additionally, the built-in heavy metal adsorption layer preliminarily captures ions of lead, cadmium, mercury, and other heavy metals, reducing the load for subsequent treatment. Crucially, compared to traditional horizontal flow sedimentation tanks, this system reduces the footprint by 50%, eliminating the need for large-scale excavation along riverbanks—making it particularly suitable for space-constrained scenarios along South African rivers.

Precision Filtration:
After sedimentation, the water still contains fine colloids and residual impurities. The precision filter—equipped with a 5μm high-accuracy cartridge—further removes these micro-particles, preventing clogging in the subsequent reverse osmosis membrane while also reducing organic content. This step lays a solid foundation for advanced purification.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) System:
As the core of advanced treatment, the RO system acts as a "fine sieve" for the pre-treated water. It achieves removal rates exceeding 99% for COD and BOD, and over 99.5% for residual heavy metal ions. The final effluent is clear and meets not only South African surface water standards but is also suitable for direct reuse in riverside agricultural irrigation, municipal landscaping, and even industrial cooling water. This creates a "treatment-reuse" closed loop, effectively addressing both South Africa’s water scarcity and river pollution challenges.
